The Asia Dry Eye Society (ADES) was founded in Tokyo in 2012 by dry eye experts from Korea, China and Japan. ADES is dedicated to advancing the research, diagnosis and treatment of dry eye disease in Asia. The prevalence of dry eye disease is increasing rapidly worldwide, with the prevalence in Asia being particularly high at approximately 20.1%, significantly higher than the global prevalence of 11.6%.

We host the annual Asia Dry Eye Summit to share the latest research and clinical experience in dry eye disease. We also provide various educational programs for medical professionals, researchers and students. ADES has achieved significant milestones, including proposing a new definition of dry eye disease in 2017 and introducing a new classification system based on the tear film-oriented diagnostic concept in 2019.

As the largest and most influential dry eye platform in Asia, ADES is dedicated to improving communication and encouraging collaboration among ophthalmologists in Asian countries. We're also passionate about fostering collaboration between ophthalmic institutions in various Asian countries. By joining forces, we can make great strides in advancing education, research, and new diagnostic and treatment methods for dry eye disease. We'd love for you to join us at the cutting edge of dry eye research and make a difference in eye health across Asia and the world
